Congratulations: Mike S. Schäfer Elected Full Member of BBAW
Mike S. Schäfer, Professor of Science Communication at the University of Zurich's IKMZ – Department of Communication and Media Research, has been elected a full member of the Social Sciences Class of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW). BBAW is one of Germany's most prestigious scholarly academies, bringing together outstanding researchers from a wide range of disciplines.
Mike's research focuses on science communication, public attitudes towards science, digital communication, climate communication, and the societal implications of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. Among other initiatives, he co-leads the Science Barometer Switzerland, is a PI in the National Centres of Competence in Research NCCR CLIM+ and NCCR Children and Cancer, and directs CHESS – the Center for Higher Education and Science Studies (CHESS).
We are especially proud that Mike is the first communication scholar elected to the Social Sciences Class of the BBAW.
