Silje Kristiansen received the Best Paper Award at this years annual conference of the Swiss Association of Communication and Media Research for her paper "Media and Risk - Risk as a multi-dimensional construct". Based on Ms. Kristiansen’s dissertation, the paper investigates how media cover risks, particularly how Swiss newspapers cover nuclear energy before and after the Fukushima incident. Applying a broad definition of risk, and an innovative multi-dimensional operationalization of this risk construct, the study details how the Swiss press cover different risk dimensions and identifies a phases pattern of attention to the nuclear risk in the media between 2010 to 2015.
